Service 1st Federal Credit Union President/CEO Bill Lavage Named 2019 Danville Area High School Honorary Alumnus

[Danville, PA] – Service 1st Federal Credit Union’s President/CEO Bill Lavage was recognized as the 2019 Danville Area High School Honorary Alumnus during the Danville Area School District Alumni Association’s Annual Meeting held recently at the Pine Barn Inn. The Honorary Alumnus achievement recognizes an individual who plays an integral role in the Danville community, but did not graduate from Danville Area High School.

“I am honored and humbled to become an Honorary Alumnus of Danville Area High School,” said Bill Lavage, President/CEO, Service 1st.  “To me this award represents Danville, and I truly love Danville.  Thank you to everyone who played a role in making me an Honorary Alumnus.  I will proudly wear my orange and purple.”

This recognition celebrates his significant professional commitment to the community and Service 1st’s commitment to the community under his leadership.

Lavage, originally from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, is a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School and Wilkes University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. After college, Lavage moved to Philadelphia where he worked for the National Credit Union Association. He relocated to Danville in 1981 to accept a position as the President and CEO of Geisinger Employees Federal Credit Union, which became Service 1st Federal Credit Union in 1995. Since taking the lead role, the credit union has grown from $2 million to $420 million in assets. Service 1st proudly serves over 34,000+ members in North Central and Northeastern Pennsylvania with a team of 115 employees.

Lavage also remains very active in the community. He has shared his service and leadership with the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce, Columbia Montour Council of Boys Scouts of American, Danville Area Little League, St. Joseph’s Basketball League, Danville Area Community Center, Danville Area Community Foundation, Danville Business Alliance, Columbia-Montour Partnership for Community Development, Montour Area Recreation Commission (MARC), ThinkBIG® Pediatric Cancer Fund, and Going Gold Pediatric Cancer Awareness Initiative.
