(Danville, PA) –Service 1st Federal Credit Union held their 8th Annual Charity Duck Derby Saturday, August 3, raising $17,000 for three local charities.
During the event, Service 1st held a random drawing of over 3,500 duckies to select six finalists. A large crowd turned out to join Service 1st’s Mascot Crissie and cheer on the six rubber duckies as they raced down the Susquehanna River toward the finish line at the Danville/Riverside Bridge.
“Thank you to everyone who supported our 2019 Charity Duck Derby,” said Brett Johnson, Vice President Lending and 2019 Duck Derby Committee Co-Chairperson. “Together, along with your continued support of this fun family event, we are continuing to make a difference in our community.”
Funds raised by this year’s Derby will be combined with those raised during Service 1st’s 26th Annual Charity Golf Tournament being held on Friday, August 23 to benefit Bridges Out of Poverty, Janet Weis Children’s Hospital, and the Mifflinburg Hose Company.
Leading up to the event, individuals could purchase tickets for either a single duck or a flock of five ducks. Service 1st congratulates the ticket holders whose numbers matched those of the six ducks randomly selected for Saturday’s race.
Derby winners include: First Place ($500) #1129 George Hunt; Second Place ($100) #3382 Kayla Sokola; Third Place ($100) #2445 Brian Robey; Fourth Place ($100) #0023 Barry Farnsworth; Fifth Place ($100) #1602 Karen Brusie and the special last place prize winner #0947 Todd Lehman. The last place winner will receive a special stuffed animal duck and a $25 Service 1st Visa® Gift Card.
In additional to the race, attendees enjoyed balloons, face painting, children’s activities and refreshments including free pizza and shaved ice from Snowy Summers Shaved Ice & Sweet Treats Dessert Truck.
