Approximately 300 Danville Area High School students recently put their budgeting skills to the test at the 2017 High School Financial Reality Fair, hosted by Service 1st Federal Credit Union.
The High School Financial Reality Fair placed students in real-life situations where they selected a career, were provided with an entry-level salary and challenged to make decisions while remaining within budget. Students were required to visit booths at the Fair and purchase necessities, such as housing, clothing, food and transportation. As in real life, non-essential options were also presented, such as entertainment, internet, and cell phones. Before leaving the Fair, students met with financial counselors from Service 1st to review their decisions.
This was the fifth year Service 1st and Danville Area High School partnered to offer this mock budgeting experience.
