An IRA offers flexibility allowing you to make one lump sum contribution or make many throughout the year! In 2016, any individual age 49 and under can contribute up to $5,500 to an IRA. For those individuals 50 years of age or older (before 2016), the maximum contribution to a Traditional or Roth IRA is $6,500 or the amount of your taxable compensation for the year (whichever is smaller).
