savings bond redemption

On December 31, 2011 the US Department of Treasury discontinued the sale of paper bonds at financial institutions. However, savings bonds may still be redeemed at financial institutions, including Service 1st. Existing paper savings bonds are still valid and will earn interest for 30 years from the issue date or until redeemed.

You can still buy savings bonds online 24/7 at www.treasurydirect.gov.
